BVD'Rangs shuts its doors.....

2006 is the year I stopped selling boomerangs. My internet sales have been lagging for a year. I attribute that to several things. One, I really haven't had the time to devote to making them and promoting them. Two, I think there has emerged a new type of boomerang retailer on the internet. There was once a few larger makers selling and a number of hobbyists in the fray. Some of those hobbyists have left the scene and we see more people selling boomerangs made by a few of the larger suppliers. I think that these resellers have taken a chunck of the business once held by the little guys. They easily handle credit card and don't really worry about making the boomerangs. It's seems that this has made a dent in sales by the rest of us.

Because of the lack of time, and lack of sales, I decided to pull the plug on December 1st. I sold some stuff on ebay at prices far below what they were worth. I have some stock remaining but not enough to list for sale. In a way, it's a relief. I don't have the pressure of making for others, unless for gifts. I can trade boomerangs anytime. And I can work on boomerangs I want to make, or boomerang art I want to do.

Thanks to those who supported my sales over the last 10-15 years.

Hey Dave! I'm sorry you stopped producing rangs. I feel quite fortunate that I was able to obtain a few of them before you did. You always had one of the most interesting catalogs and some of the very best prices. I think you're right about the change in boom sellers. I see this as a good thing in the long run. There will always be garage shop makers and hobbyists. As boomerang awareness increases, I'm sure that a lot of future crafters will become interested in making their own. And customers of the big retailers will eventually want "something different". John V.
