9-yr-old Carolyn Speaks for Safety 1937

8:00 am
On March 25, 1937, Carolyn Jones, a nine-year-old survivor, addressed the Texas state legislators, urging them to make more protective laws. " Our daddies and mothers as well as the teachers want to know that when we leave our homes in the morning to go to school we will come home safely when our lessons are over."

The story of the New London School Explosion inspired many people to think more carefully about school safety. As a result of the explosion, an odorant was added to natural gas.
