Rachel Carson Remembered May 27th marks the 100th birthday of Rachael
Carson, the scientist-journalist who inspired the modern American
environmental movement. Before dying from breast cancer in 1964, Carson
published four books about the natural world including the still
controversial 1962 best seller "Silent Spring," which details the
disastrous effects of synthetic pesticides including DDT. This week,
