The intersection of Milton Avenue and Milton Terrace was dedicated to Steven F. Gaughan, former Fairmount Hill resident. He was killed in the line of duty as a Prince Georges County Police Officer.

I am pleased to announce the June 19 ^th turn out provided the Association a new, full complement of Board members going into the next year. The 2007-2008 Board consists of: Chair - Bob Vance, Vice Chair - Trish Hurley, Treasurer - Patricia Tierney Secretary - Kathy Stanton, General Board: Judy Ouellette, Nora Bernazzani, Amanda Lion, Rebecca Holland, John Towle, Sean Hurley, Maureen Flaherty, Patrick Whalen, Ave Siecinski, and Tom Francis. The role of Communications will be maintained by Bob Vance and others during a transition period of not more than 1 year. I want to thank those that turned out to vote and support our neighborhood association and the especially those that stepped-up and volunteered to work on continuing our growth as a community. I will be making contact with the Sub Committee volunteers to initiate some meetings and get things off the ground during the summer. Watch the calendar for up coming meetings and events. Thank you, Bob Vance .

FHNA is a neighborhood group committed to improving the quality of life in the Fairmount Hill section of Hyde Park, Massachusetts. We believe that by working together as an organization, we will have the resources to shape an informed community. Our efforts will provide us, our families, and in particular, our children with a safe and positive environment.

We hope to provide forums for people to get to know each other through social gatherings, events and discussions of local issues and concerns. The Association will be requesting assistance from outside agencies or local officials as needed in order to build an even stronger community.

Fun Fairmount Facts and Hyde Park History

Frequent visitors to Fairmount Hill were; William Lloyd Garrison, John Greenleaf Whittier and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Hyde Park women were given the right to vote for a town committee member long before general women's suffrage.

The main New Haven Railroad car shop and the first paper factory in the country were in Hyde Park.

Kennedy's, one of Boston's major clothing stores began in Hyde Park.
